Practical Emotional Intelligence

New Book Under Development

  • We have invited 20 superbly talented people to contribute to this very unique book on applying the ability model.   Co-facilitated by Prof John Pellitteri and David Caruso the book uses the ability model and a collaborative approach. For example, authors meet one on one with a facilitator, meet as a group and follow an outline for their chapter to ensure comprehensive and powerful content coverage. We expect publication mid-2027.

    OVERVIEW

  • Emotional Intelligence (EI) is a set of four hard skills - perceiving, connecting, understanding and managing emotions - which can be applied to settings including the workplace, the board room, the classroom, the clinician’s office, and the consultant’s workshop as well as for personal well-being, mental health and interpersonal relationships. Many professionals – consultants, leaders, teachers, managers - embrace the importance of EI and understand its relevance but they are unsure exactly how to apply these skills. This book - by practitioners for practitioners - addresses that gap. It includes brief chapters describing professional scenarios and how the practitioner used EI to overcome challenges. Each chapter has a case study and concrete specific strategies (“take-aways”) that can readily be applied in professional work. There is a personal touch in how EI can benefit each professional’s outlook. With contributors from several countries that cut across leadership, organizations, healthcare and education disciplines these practical applications can cross-fertilize and inspire new ways of thinking and contribute to any practitioner’s tool box.

Be smart about emotions.

Emotions - the right ones at the right time - help you make better decisions.

Emotion Management

BEFORE asking "how are you?" or exploring emotions you MUST develop these skills! A focus on feelings - without these skills - is neither helpful nor intelligent.
